There are many types of bulbs in the automotive world. So how do you know what bulb is needed when replacing or upgrading?
1. The bulb itself will have markings on it. One of the markings will give you the industry number for the bulb type. This bulb shows that it is an 9004/HB1 type bulb.

2. If the bulb is from a headlamp, the bulb type is usually printed or molded into the lens. This lamp takes HB3 and HB4 type bulbs.
|
3. If you are looking for the bulb type on an OEM lamp, the information should be printed in the Owner's Manual.
